Causes of de-motivated staff

Stress

So much has been written about stress at home or at work, how it has a detrimental impact on an individual's productivity at work and their ability to work harmoniously within a team.

Some organisations have a policy whereby the employee must be seen to be almost at the point of breakdown before they are able to refer them for counseling. WE BELIEVE THIS IS TOO LATE !!! The repercussions of leaving it too late are damaging for the individual and the business.

Many forward-thinking organisations are now beginning to recognise the benefits of bringing in life & career coaching as a PREVENTATIVE measure to ensure that employees remain at their most resourceful.

Coaching isn't counseling, we don't focus on an individual's past or what's wrong. Instead, we work with our clients using a variety of styles and techniques, allowing them a confidential space to think differently and make the changes necessary to get back on form.

Well, an individual is said to be at their most stimulated, fulfilled and purposeful when they are;

“doing” performing/working/active

“being” relaxing/reflecting/doing nothing, and

“growing” learning new skills/being stretched/progressing

When staff lose motivation or become bored with their work, it could be due to one of these aspects not being addressed. With organisations now being flatter in structure and there being less opportunity to progress upwards people need to grow laterally within their roles to gain this sense of fulfillment at work. As coaches, we can get underneath boredom and apathy, identify where the problem lie, create a fresh vision with the client, and an action plan to get them achieving it.

Cutting edge research into appraisals shows that most are too infrequent, they look back over a year not forward over the next quarter, are based on telling people not asking what they think, are conducted in ways which miss huge opportunities to motivate focus and enhance the performance of the person being appraised.

Managing others performance
I am a Nikken Independent Wellness Consultant with a large group of people under me. It is my responsibility to train these people but there was one person who was proving to be a challenge for me and was under-performing, so I asked for Fiona's help.
