Part 2
What are your Energy Drainers and Givers?
‘Energy drainers' are situations, relationships and physical things around you or that you do which drain you. Examples might include:
- That unfinished “ project ”
- The meeting or phone calls you dread
- The fact that you are fed up with yourself for not living your full potential
- Your overfull wardrobe or desk
- Too much “stuff” to deal with
- Your unreliable technology, car or machinery
- Putting on weight and feeling fed up, that you don't have time to exercise or eat healthily
- Not being taken seriously or given the respect you deserve
Get the idea !
a. Now think of at least 5 things that are draining you right now. Write them down.
Energy givers
These are the things you do, see and experience that make you feel great.
These might include:
- The buzz from a big sale or from getting your message across
- Helping others and really making a difference
- The feeling of walking along a beach
- Listening to music
- Pulling together an important project
- Leaving early on Friday and taking your kids swimming
b. Stop for a moment – think about what gives you good energy. Write down at least 5 things.
c. Now ask yourself – what proportion of your week are you spending doing the things that give you energy?
d. What proportion of your week are you doing things that drain you?
e. Finally, do you want to continue as you are or do you want some external impetus to help you change your habits and create a Great Business to support you having a Great Life?
